This is not only the most badly run Shoppers Drug Mart pharmacy I have ever used, it is the worst pharmacy in general. I've used other Shoppers pharmacies in Vancouver and on the Island that were terrific, but this one...is not. No matter how many days in advance you order a prescription you are still guaranteed to receive it partially filled, requiring you to attend the store again and again. They outright refuse to fill certain prescriptions in full with the excuse that holding the correct quantity of medication in their store for a few hours leaves them vulnerable to robbery, disregarding the much more important fact that forcing sick people in pain to consistently drag themselves back and forth to their pharmacy causes unnecessary additional pain aggravation and stress. Pharmacists and assistants should understand that they are not medical professionals. They do not know their customers' medical conditions, cannot offer advice, and need to stop interfering with people's health in such reckless ways. There is a reason why many physicians cannot stand them: they constantly challenge physicians and their patients, they power-trip all over sick people, make attempts to delay giving customers their medication (which this pharmacy does to many and has had to be explicitly corrected), make incorrect assumptions about why people are taking certain medications because they have limited knowledge and education (again, they don't diagnose/treat, aren't privy to anything - they fill bottles, paste stickers and take money). At this Shoppers, the staff are condescending, and there is no pretense of the pharmacy being a medical facility. It's very methodical: they ask you for your phone number (as though someone trying to snitch someone else's meds would know their name and not their number), then for some disgusting reason they manhandle your medication by dumping it into their bare hands to show it to you, which is very offensive. The store itself is set up badly. For some reason I cannot figure, they closed the front cash desks ages ago (which have a proper belt to run your purchases along so you're not crowded), and now everyone is forced to go to the back where it's squished, dark, only one desk is open and there is no room to line up or put anything down. So, you have to lumber all the way to the back of the store to squeeze your way through this concession-cash, then lug your stuff back to the front of the store to exit and catch your bus or taxi. Cat litter is of course at the back of the store, opposite side from the cash. As are other heavy things like pop, food, my vertebrae. I changed to this pharmacy because I assumed that Shoppers would be better run than my previous pharmacy and the location is convenient, but it has been nothing but aggravation. I have never seen such incompetence, or such ignorance towards the ill. It's simply not worth it. The only thing redeeming about this store is PC Ginger Ale, and that is thanks to President's Choice, not this absurd staff. Downtown New Westminster is a terrible place for pharmacies. If you can fit it into your day, go to Longevity. The hours aren't great, but the service is absolutely wonderful.

The pharmacy refused to fill my prescription because there's no instructions from my doctor... Are you kidding me? The pharmacist brought the prescription that was faxed directly to them over to me and the instructions were right there. He then told me it needs to be instructed in "this area" on the paper. I was told they would have it fixed in a day... Two days later and they haven't contacted me that they have filled my prescription for me. Nothing but issues at this pharmacy.
